Microalgae Laboratory
Production of microalgal biomass
The microalgae plants are dedicated to furthering our knowledge of their physiological and developmental needs so that we can cultivate and harvest them more efficiently. Experiments in the IMC labs are aimed at the production of algal biomass for its use in aquaculture and wastewater treatment.
The experiments make use of structures and instruments both in the laboratory and on a pilot scale for the cultivation and production of biomass. This involves the use of completely controlled photobioreactors and a good range of biological services and analyses. Our objective is to identify optimal methods of cultivation and harvesting, in terms of time and costs, using phototroph cultivation techniques.
